According to BCCI sources, Nitish Reddy’s quadriceps injury has prevented him from playing in India’s T20I series against Ireland. This setback may also prevent him from playing in the country’s next white-ball series against England. The 23-year-old all-rounder was chosen as India’s seam-bowling all-rounder for the UK tour in both the ODI and T20I teams, while Hardik Pandya was still left out.

In the just finished home series against Afghanistan, Reddy played in two ODIs and took his first wickets in the format in Dharamsala. At the toss, captain Shubman Gill disclosed that the all-rounder was experiencing “some issues with his quad,” which is why he was unable to play in the second ODI in Lucknow. Reddy made a comeback for the last ODI in Chennai, when he bowled six wicketless overs for forty-two runs without having to bat.

Reddy’s progress over the past year has been impeded by a series of fitness setbacks, the most recent of which is this injury. During the 2025 Indian Premier League, he bowled just five overs in 13 matches due to concerns about his fitness. Later, a knee injury kept him out of action halfway through India’s Test tour of England.

Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling coach James Franklin discussed Reddy’s attempts to get fitter during the most recent IPL 2026, pointing out that the all-rounder had raised both his bowling workload and tempo. He seemed to be gaining momentum and raising his loads, so this most recent setback comes at a terrible time.

Reddy is anticipated to report to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence, where additional evaluations will clarify his recuperation schedule and ascertain the severity of the injury.
