For the past few months, there have been rumours that Apple is trying to make the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro series smaller. In order to transform the Dynamic Island into a pill-shaped window, the company reportedly placed the Face ID sensors beneath the display. But according to a number of sources, the technology wasn’t ready and might be delayed until the iPhone’s 20th anniversary next year.
A significantly smaller Dynamic Island is visible at the top of the screen in what a fresh X tipster claims to be CAD images of the iPhone 18 Pro series.
The tipster doesn’t provide any information regarding the potential size of the Dynamic Island reduction. However, prior speculations indicate that the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max may be as small as 35%.
Notably, if the Dynamic Island rumour is accurate, it might be the only significant cosmetic update we see in the Apple flagship series this year. Apple isn’t reportedly making any design changes to the iPhone 18 Pro lineup this year.
Four additional colour options for the iPhone 18 Pro are reportedly being introduced by the company: Light Blue (Pantone 2121), Dark Cherry (Pantone 6076), Dark Grey (Pantone 426C), and Silver (Pantone 427C).
Although Apple’s orange iPhone 17 Pro model has previously been a major talking point, the company is unlikely to stick with the shade this year.
What more might be added to the lineup of the iPhone 18 Pro?
The A20 Pro chipset, which is built on TSMC’s 3nm process, is anticipated to power the newest Apple flagship. In comparison to the A19 Pro on its predecessor, the CPU is anticipated to offer 15% efficiency gains and 30% faster performance.
With a 5,100–5,200mAh battery, the iPhone 18 Pro Max may feature the largest iPhone battery ever, but it may also be heavier and bulkier at about 240g.
The phone may sport a 24MP lens on the front and a triple 48MP camera on the back. The main camera’s adjustable aperture, which might let more light into the sensor and lessen blurriness in low-light photos, is the major adjustment Apple might make.
Additionally, the telephoto and ultra-wide angle lenses could have bigger apertures, which could increase backdrop separation, shutter speed, and noise reduction in images.
Additionally, it is anticipated that Apple’s internal solution will eventually replace Qualcomm modems in the Pro lineup. According to reports, Apple may be preparing to release the C2 modem on the iPhone 18 Pro series. This modem would have comparable performance to Qualcomm modems and compatibility for 5G satellite connectivity in addition to complete internet access via satellite and mmWave 5G connectivity.
The 6.3-inch (Pro) and 6.9-inch (Pro Max) ProMotion 120Hz LTPO OLED screens from the previous year may be present on the two iPhones.
