LPG petrol price increase: Following previous increases of 195.50 on April 1 and 114.50 on March 1, the revision brings the total increase to 1,303 during a three-month period.
LPG petrol price increase: As global energy prices continue to rise due to the ongoing crisis in West Asia, commercial LPG cylinder prices were allegedly raised on Friday for the third consecutive month.
The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder, which is frequently used by hotels and restaurants, has increased by a record ₹993. The price in Delhi has increased from ₹2,078.50 to ₹3,071.50.
So far, this growth has been the steepest. The most recent update comes after increases of ₹195.50 per cylinder on April 1 and ₹114.50 on March 1. As a result, during the course of three months, prices have increased by ₹1,303.
LPG prices remain stable domestically
Domestic LPG prices have remained unchanged despite a severe burden on commercial customers. In Delhi, the 14.2-kg cylinder used in home kitchens still costs ₹913.
The most recent change to domestic LPG rates was a ₹60 rise per cylinder on March 7.
The reasons behind the increase in prices
On the first day of each month, state-run oil marketing firms update LPG and ATF pricing to reflect global benchmarks and exchange rates.
Due in large part to interruptions in energy supply chains brought on by the conflict in West Asia and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial transit route, global oil prices have increased by almost 50% in recent weeks. Commercial LPG prices have increased as a direct result of this.
However, the cost of petrol and diesel has not altered. In Delhi, petrol is presently priced at ₹94.72 per litre and diesel at ₹87.62 per litre following a ₹2 per litre reduction in March of last year.
Only a small portion of consumers are impacted by the most recent revision, according to Indian Oil Corporation (IOC). Only a few specific industrial segments, which make up a very small portion of overall consumption, have been affected by the price revision, according to a Live Hindustan story citing the company.
Bulk and commercial LPG cylinders, which make up less than 1% of overall usage, have apparently been updated, according to IOC.
It further emphasised that almost 80% of petroleum goods have not witnessed price changes, while household LPG cylinder prices for about 33 crore consumers have not altered.
