The newest tool is the WhatsApp business chat filter. Meta is getting ready to assist users in controlling the growing volume of advertising messages on its platform.
WhatsApp tests business chat sorting automatically
WhatsApp is working on a feature for its Android app that will, after a predetermined amount of time—possibly 24 hours—automatically transfer communications from corporate accounts into a special business section. The concept is straightforward: direct offers, updates, and automated notifications to a different WhatsApp business chat filter view while keeping the primary chat list concentrated on private discussions.
The capability was initially discovered by independent tracker WABetaInfo in recent beta builds, such as the WhatsApp beta for Android versions 2.26.14.1 and 2.26.15.9. In order to reduce clutter and business-related spam in the main inbox, the site published screenshots that demonstrate an option to shift qualifying business discussions to the new section after 24 hours.
How the business chat filter on WhatsApp will operate
Early reports state that all discussions with corporate accounts will be automatically grouped in a special list by the WhatsApp business chat filter, requiring no user setup. Additionally, WhatsApp is testing features that would allow users to choose whether to move certain business threads to the business section or keep them in the main chat list.
Instead than focusing on regular person-to-person discussions, the filter is supposed to target corporate chats that use cloud-based automated systems to distribute offers and updates. The modification may significantly reduce the stress of using the app on a daily basis for users who frequently receive banking alerts, marketing blasts, or promotional reminders.
Development is ongoing; no release date has been set yet
Regular users and even beta testers are not yet allowed to access the stable version of the WhatsApp business conversation filter, which is still under development. Before broader testing starts, Meta is still fine-tuning how chats are categorised. The business has not disclosed a rollout schedule.
If the functionality launches as planned, it would be another step in WhatsApp’s larger effort to strike a balance between consumers’ demands for a tidy, private chat experience on their phones and its expanding commercial messaging ecosystem.
