A minor but common travel habit is highlighted in the popular video, which may cause many people to reconsider their next trip.
When an aircraft lands, what normally happens? Even before the aircraft doors open, passengers start grabbing for their cabin bags, phones start to light up with notifications and aeroplane mode is turned off. People are eager to get off as soon as possible, and the aisle fills up rapidly. It’s almost like a race. Does hurrying, however, actually make a difference? Not all the time.
Travellers are being prompted to reconsider this well-known post-landing routine by a viral Instagram video that has now received over 27 million views. In the video, a young traveller records other passengers rushing past him as they get ready to get off the plane. In the meantime, he chooses to be the last person to go and stays sitting, composed and unfazed.
His logic becomes evident as the video goes on. When he eventually gets off the plane, he pans the camera to the airport shuttle bus, which is already packed with people who have hurried ahead and are waiting for him to board before it can leave. The text overlay on the video says, “Everyone rushes off the plane…just to wait for me on the bus.”
On the internet, the straightforward yet insightful statement has resonated. While some viewers noted that the circumstance would not necessarily apply to everyone, many others found the reasoning to be humorous and realistic.
Users are expressing their personal experiences and viewpoints in the comments section of the video, which has started a lively discussion:
Someone said, “You’re gonna be the first one off the bus, too!”
“Diabolical sense of humour,” remarked another, and “Well done, boy,” commented a third.
“I once saw a lady rush up the front and then we departed from the back of the plane,” an Instagram user wrote.
One person joked, “God forbid I wanted to get fresh air and stretch my legs.”
“I’ve never understood people who jump up and queue in the aisle the moment the plane lands,” another person remarked. Sit down again since no one will leave until that door is opened, which won’t happen for at least ten minutes.”
One person found it relatable and said, “I literally do this alllll the time, same with boarding the plane.”
Not everyone, though, thought the hack made sense. “There is the second bus,” someone wrote. The first bus has already departed after packing up its passengers.
Another claimed, “People miss the connecting flight because of people like you”
The movie draws attention to a minor but common travel behaviour that many people may now reconsider the next time they land, even as the discussion rages on.
