According to Sajeeb Wazed, hundreds of leaders and activists are being extrajudicially slain at the same time as the Kangaroo tribunal and the extradition request that followed.

Sajeeb Wazed, the son of the former prime minister, criticized the Muhammad Yunus regime for carrying out a “farcical trial process through International Crimes Tribunal” that “makes it a political witch hunt that forsakes justice” in response to Bangladesh’s request for the extradition of Sheikh Hasina from India.

Bangladesh made the diplomatic request in response to Sheikh Hasina’s August trip to New Delhi, where she was overthrown after 15 years in power due to massive student-led protests. According to India’s foreign ministry, they are “at this time” unable to comment on Sheikh Hasina’s extradition.

Bangladesh has issued a formal message to India requesting Hasina’s return, according to Touhid Hossain, India’s foreign affairs adviser. “We have communicated to India our desire to have Sheikh Hasina returned for the legal proceedings,” he stated.

What was said by the son of Sheikh Hasina?

“The Kangaroo tribunal and subsequent request for (Hasina’s) extradition comes at a time when hundreds of leaders and activists are being extrajudicially killed, false murder charges are being falsely framed, thousands of people are being illegally imprisoned by law enforcement, and violent attacks, including looting, vandalism, and arson, are occurring with impunity every day, fueled by regime denial,” Sheikh Hasina’s son added. It is a political witch hunt that forgoes justice and represents another ongoing campaign to target Awami League leadership because the judges and prosecutors selected by the unelected Yunus-led administration to conduct a ridiculous trial procedure through the International Crimes Tribunal.”

“On December 22, the chief prosecutor of the ICT Tribunal Tajul Islam, appointed by the Yunus regime despite his proven record of defending war criminals, reportedly spread deliberate disinformation campaign against honorable party president Sheikh Hasina as he claimed Interpol issued red notice against her, a desperate bid to extradite her and hold farcical trial to serve the interest of Dr. Yunus,” Sajeeb Wazed said, calling Bangladesh’s request to India a “desperate bid.” However, after the blatant deception was made public by the media, the prosecutor changed his mind and formally requested extradition from India.

Future difficulties for Sheikh Hasina

Among the numerous judicial cases Sheikh Hasina is facing are accusations of crimes against humanity. Sheikh has been the subject of arrest warrants from the International Crimes Tribunal in Dhaka Hasina and her close aides.
