The National Institutes of Health now has Jay Bhattacharya as its director.

With a budget of approximately $47.3 billion, the National Institutes of Health is the nation’s largest public supporter of medical research. President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, who is of Indian descent, as its director.

Dr. Bhattacharya, a Stanford professor and US COVID policy critic, will collaborate with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to “restore the NIH to a Gold Standard of Medical Research as they examine the underlying causes of, and solutions to, America’s biggest health challenges, including our crisis of chronic illness and disease,” according to Trump’s announcement of his nomination.
