The Prix Versailles’ list of the most beautiful hotels in the world for 2026 includes a luxurious heritage hotel in Khajuraho.
Warmth, generosity, and the attitude of Atithi Devo Bhava are frequently mentioned while discussing Indian hospitality. Making visitors feel at home has always been the goal, sometimes with garlands, sometimes with dhol beats, and frequently with subtle touches that provide a little something extra to a stay. However, the warmth and service aren’t the only things winning people over these days. Some of the nation’s most notable hotels and restaurants are gaining international recognition for their architecture, design, and sense of place.
The most recent honour comes from Prix Versailles, a distinguished architecture and design award program that honours exceptional lodging, dining establishments, and other venues worldwide. India has achieved two victories in 2026: a chic restaurant in Pune has been included in the World’s Most Beautiful Restaurants list, and a historic palace in Khajuraho has been included in the World’s Most Beautiful Hotels list.
According to Prix Versailles, the Oberoi Rajgarh Palace in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh, is one of the World’s Most Beautiful Hotels 2026. 16 properties from all around the world that are notable for their architecture, design, and sense of place are included in the annual list.
The 350-year-old castle offers picturesque views, regal interiors, and an immersive experience based in the region’s history and culture by fusing modern luxury with heritage architecture. The palace, which was first constructed by Maharaja Hindu Pat of the Bundela dynasty, is a remarkable illustration of Bundelkhand’s architectural heritage that has been carefully updated with contemporary conveniences and style.
The property, which was once a fortress before being converted into an opulent palace hotel, is situated in the forested Maniyagarh Hills next to Panna National Park. Its “princely grandeur” was lauded by Prix Versailles, which also described it as one of the best instances of Indian hospitality.
While the most opulent accommodations at The Oberoi Rajgarh Palace can cost up to Rs 11 lakh per night, a night there starts at about Rs 40,000.
The facility, which launched in late 2025, has received an increasing number of international awards.
Pune’s Rosso
Rosso in Pune has been included in the list of the World’s Most Beautiful Restaurants for 2026. It joins a global chain of restaurants known for their outstanding design and atmosphere in addition to their cuisine.
Rosso is a gorgeously constructed restaurant that serves delectable Italian cuisine and is tucked away in Hotel Irada, a functioning winery. The area combines modern design elements with Mediterranean influences. It has become one of the most visually appealing dining venues in the world because to its carefully chosen furnishings, cosy textures, and immersive design.
Recognitions like Prix Versailles demonstrate how design has become an essential component of hospitality as tourists look for experiences that go beyond delicious meals and cosy accommodations. India is also depicted on the map.
