Following his appointment as the U.S. vice president, this is Mr. Vance’s first trip to India.

For his four-day trip to India, US Vice President JD Vance landed in New Delhi this morning. The Indian-American Second Lady, Usha Vance, is in India with the US Vice President. At the Palam airport, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw greeted the US Vice President and presented Mr. Vance with a tri-services guard of honour.

The jet carrying the US vice president touched down at New Delhi’s Palam Technical Area. Later in the day, he will meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two men will probably discuss ways to strengthen India-US relations and the early completion of the proposed bilateral trade agreement. It is anticipated that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval will participate in the talks.

Following his appointment as the U.S. vice president, this is Mr. Vance’s first trip to India. A delegation of five people, including officials from the State Department and the Pentagon, is with him.

“The visit will give both sides a chance to assess the development of bilateral relations and the execution of the outcomes of the India-US Joint Statement issued on February 13 during the Prime Minister’s visit to the US,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement. Additionally, the two parties will discuss issues of mutual interest on a regional and global level.

Mr. Vance and his family will travel to Jaipur and Agra following their meeting with Prime Minister Modi. The famous Amer Palace will be visited by the US Vice-President on Tuesday. He will give the keynote speech at the US-India Business Summit at the Rajasthan International Centre later that day. Top American and Indian officials will attend the meeting, and Mr. Vance is anticipated to discuss bilateral investment and commerce between the two nations.

The US vice president is scheduled to visit the Taj Mahal in Agra on Wednesday. He will visit the Jaipur City Palace that same day after spending about three hours at the monument.

On April 22, he is expected to meet with Governor Haribhau Bagade and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. On Thursday, he will go for Washington.
