
Keerthy Suresh in ‘Dorothy’ trailer

The trailer of Karthik Subbaraj’s upcoming gangster-drama, Dorothywas unveiled by the makers on Friday (September 18, 2026). With a soundtrack composed by Illaiyaraaja, the film stars Keerthy Suresh, Sananth and Rishikanth in pivotal roles.
The trailer opens with a conversation between two boys during a movie screening as they watch a kissing scene. One of them closes his eyes as the other tells him, “We will also be expected to kiss girls like this when we grow up, so pay attention.” The trailer then switches into their adult life as they get caught in the world of violence and the character of Keerthy is seen interacting with the two, posing a challenge to their bond. The movie promises to explore the complexities of violence in an understated manner.
Dorothy had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival 2026 in the Centrepiece section. It is the first Tamil feature to premiere at TIFF in the past decade.
Ilaiyaraaja has composed the film’s original score and songs. Its 18-track OST was also presented as a live musical experience in Chennai recently, with musicians performing the Dorothy score continuously for around 40 minutes.
Produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain in association with Dhammam Films, Dorothy will be released in theatres on September 25.
Karthik’s previous directorial was Retro, starring Suriya. With Pooja Hegde, and Joju George in prominent roles, Retro hit the screens on May 1, 2025.
