With her outfit selections for her close friend and actor Akanksha Rajan’s wedding celebrations, Athiya Shetty has mastered the wedding guest fashion. The ivory-colored anarkali style by Rohit Bal, created by the couture house’s current creative director, Fraze Tasnim, is the one that has gained a lasting place in our collective memory despite the fact that she donned other looks over the multi-day event.
The sleeveless organza silk anakali was inspired by a style from the brand’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection, Kaaynaat, which was designer Rohit Bal’s last creation. The anarkali has a cut-out in the back and a tight-fitting bodice with a Queen Anne neckline. Delicate thread is used to embroider floral designs. The silhouette continued into panels kalis, each of which had abstract floral spires embroidered on it that ascended elegantly from the hem. Shetty overlaid the anarkali with a transparent dupatta embroidered with Rohit Bal’s trademark nature-inspired designs, like as flowers, horses, cranes, and greenery, and teamed it with a matching churidar.
The neckpiece covered in gemstones was the ensemble’s focal point. Nine precious and semi-precious jewels from Chandigarh-based jeweller Anmol Jain were used in the navratna neckpiece. Shetty enhanced the ensemble with thread-and-sequin embroidered juttis from Delhi-based footwear brand Needle Dust and diamond stud earrings from Mumbai-based jewellery company Irasva Fine Jewellery.
The monochrome look was complemented with a tonal organza potli bag by Mumbai-based designer Meera Mahadevia with floral hand embroidery, pearl accents, and a kiss-lock clasp. Simran Gidwani’s minimalist beauty look mirrored the attire with dewy skin, defined lashes, flushed cheeks, and nude lips. Shetty’s hair was fashioned in a chic fishtail braid by hairstylist Kunj Sharma.
