Together, the AAP and Congress fought in Delhi’s Lok Sabha elections earlier this year as members of the opposition INDIA alliance. The BJP won every seat as both parties failed to provide a result.

In the next Delhi Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party will run alone. Days after the party’s initial list of candidates was made public, party president Arvind Kejriwal made the announcement on Sunday. Early in 2025, Delhi is expected to hold assembly elections.

During a press conference on Sunday afternoon, Kejriwal emphasized that there will be no coalition in Delhi for the assembly elections.

Two days prior, Congress chairman Devender Yadav had declared that his party will run for all 70 seats without forming any kind of partnership. In a recent interview with the media, the party stated that Delhi residents were “very unhappy” with the “misgovernance” of the AAP and the BJP, although it has not yet announced its chief ministerial candidate for the elections.

Old age pensions are not being paid to senior persons. Poor people do not receive ration cards. There is damage to the roads. Pollution has gotten out of hand. Young people are unemployed. This depresses women because of inflation. Mohalla Clinics were opened by the AAP just for show. He declared on Friday, “This is the Kejriwal model.”

After controlling Delhi for 15 years in a row, the party has not won any seats in the last two assembly elections.

With 62 seats out of 70, the AAP had won an absolute majority in the 2015 elections. As the Congress struggled to make an impression, the BJP only managed to win eight seats. However, the results of the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year showed that the party’s fortunes had turned around.

The BJP won every seat in the nation’s capital, while the AAP and Congress, who were running as members of the Opposition INDIA group in the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi, came up empty.

Despite multiple rounds of negotiations, the two partnered parties had also been unable to come to a seat-sharing arrangement before the Haryana Assembly elections in October.
