The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department in Tamil Nadu has constituted a State-level committee to screen, sort and shortlist candidates for the posts of non-hereditary trustees of temples whose incomes are above ₹10 lakh per annum.
The committee will be headed by Thirugnana Balaya Swamigal of the Bommapuram Aadheenam, Mayilam. Retired District judge K. Ramanathan will be vice-president.
The members would be film producer Archana Kalpathi Agoram of AGS Cinemas (who produced the Tamil movies ‘Bigil’ and ‘GOAT’ starring Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay), former IAS officer P.R. Sampath, playback and devotional singer T. Velmurugan, M. Sumathi and the Commissioner of HR&CE.

The order issued by Secretary HR&CE J. Kumaragurubaran said since the term of the previous committee had come to an end, a new committee has been constituted.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Minister for HR&CE Ramesh, on Monday (August 10, 2026), held an online discussion with heads of various Saivite and Sri Vaishnava Maths, religious heads and officials about the announcements to be made in the Assembly this Budget Session.
