Auror-ing through the winter sky with Finnair

Finland’s national carrier, Finnair, brings customers the opportunity to experience the start of Finland’s popular Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) season, due to the darker winter nights.

With the Northern Lights season underway, customers can plan an Arctic escape to Finnish Lapland, where the Aurora Borealis can be visible on clear, dark nights from autumn through to early spring.

Finnish Lapland provides the perfect location for Celestial Tourism, offering roughly 200 days when the Aurora Borealis is visible, peaking from November onwards, with the possibility to spot the Northern Lights as late as March or April in spring.

With its strong schedule this winter, Finnair, the Official Airline of Santa Claus, offers connections via Helsinki to four popular destinations in Northern Finland; Ivalo, Kittilä, Kuusamo and Rovaniemi, the Hometown of Santa Claus.

Further afield, Finnair also offers services to five destinations in Northern Norway and flies to Tromsø throughout the winter season, which is set to offer an unmissable display of the Northern Lights.
Voted the Best Airline in Northern Europe by Skytrax, Finnair will operate 11 weekly flights from Edinburgh, 12 weekly flights from Dublin and a twice-daily service from Manchester, alongside four daily flights from London Heathrow this winter. These services offer travellers across the UK and Ireland convenient connections via Helsinki to the Arctic.
