Neelam Productions today, September 18, unveiled a new glimpse video of ace filmmaker and producer Pa Ranjith’s upcoming feature film, Vettuvam. The video, titled ‘World of Vettuvam,’ takes us behind the scenes of the making of the socio-political action drama.
The video, narrated by Ranjith himself, opens by stating that the film speaks about the destruction ancient cultures went through, how it impacted the present, and, as a result of that impact, how natural calamities will affect our future. “Across these three different time periods, there has been a power struggle among human beings, and this will be the central conflict of the film,” says Ranjith, before explaining what ‘Vettuvam’ means.
“Vettai (Hunting) is when an animal is attacked or killed by a human being for protection or food. Vettuvam is when animals or clans of humans fight among themselves to prove their power and strength over the other.” In the film’s story, several clans fight for dominance, and it is interesting to know how all the actors in the film had to undergo intensive training in the ancient martial arts of Adi Murai and Mal Kambh.
We are then introduced to each of the film’s primary cast members. Arya, an actor known for his fitness and affinity towards martial arts, plays Dharmarajan. Shabeer Kallarakkal, who played Dancing Rose in Ranjith’s Sarpatta Parambarai, plays Sembiyan. Kalaiyarasan, Ranjith’s frequent collaborator, plays Veeravarman. Sobhita Dhulipala, who pulls off some intense stunts in the glimpse, plays Radhi. VR Dinesh, or ‘Gethu’ Dhinesh as is known as, plays Nandhan.
Other members of the cast of Vettuvam include Mime Gopi, Guru Somasundaram, John Vijay, Sai Dheena, Anand Saami, Harish Uthaman, Lizzy, Lingesh Prem Kumar, and Kavitha Bharathi, among others.
“This is what the film is all about. The characters in this film participate in a fighting competition. The winner gets a title to their name. Will this destruction lead to new life?” concludes Ranjith as we see some breathtaking footage from the film.
With music scored by GV Prakash Kumar, Vettuvam has cinematography by Roopesh Shaji and editing by Selva RK. Dhilip Subbarayan is the action choreographer. SS Murthi is the art director.
S Sai Devanand, S Sai Venkateswaran, and Ranjith produce Vettuvam under their Learn and Teach Production and Neelam Productions banners. The film is set to release in December in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada.
