The Trump administration will ban imports of certain Canadian alcoholic beverages, motor vehicles and dairy products from September 29, Reuters reported, citing notices posted on the White House website.
The move marks a further escalation in the trade dispute between the United States and Canada, which has intensified in recent months as both countries have imposed tariffs and other trade restrictions.
The new restrictions come as Canada has stepped up retaliatory measures against US goods. Ottawa’s tariffs on about $20 billion worth of US imports took effect on September 8 after trade talks between the two countries stalled.
