On social media, Trump shared video of smoke billowing from the B1 bridge in Karaj, about 35 kilometres southwest of Tehran, and threatened further devastation if Iran didn’t negotiate an end to the five-week conflict.

The tallest bridge in Iran was destroyed, according to U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday, April 2, 2026, only hours after he threatened to bomb Iran “back to the Stone Ages.”

According to state TV and the news agency Fars, Ghodratollah Seif, the deputy governor of Alborz Province, where the B1 bridge is situated, stated that eight people had died and ninety-five others had been injured in the incident.

AFP is unable to independently verify tolls in Iran or access strike sites due to reporting restrictions.

Mr. Trump posted footage on social media of smoke rising from the B1 bridge in Karaj, around 20 miles (35 kilometres) southwest of Tehran — and warned that there would be further destruction unless Iran comes to the table to end the five-week war.

“There will be much more after Iran’s largest bridge collapses and is never used again! Mr. Trump declared, “It’s time for Iran to reach a deal before it’s too late and there’s nothing left of what could still become a great country.”

“Striking civilian structures, including unfinished bridges, will not compel Iranians to surrender,” stated Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in a post on X.It merely illustrates the moral collapse and defeat of a disorganised adversary.

Two American-Israeli strikes on the bridge had already been announced by Iranian official media. The American-Zionist adversary once again targeted the B1 bridge in Karaj a few minutes ago, according to state TV, which also stated that two civilians were killed in the earlier hit.

It said that while emergency personnel were sent to the scene to assist the victims of the initial attack, the subsequent incident occurred.

According to Fars/Iranian media, the B1 bridge, which was still under construction, has a 447-foot (136-meter) column, making it the tallest bridge in West Asia.

In a speech on Wednesday, April 1, Mr. Trump claimed that the war that the US and Israel had started on February 28 was almost finished, even as he threatened to bomb Iran “extremely hard” if it refused to comply with his demands. In his first prime-time speech to the country regarding the war, he declared, “We are going to bring them back to the Stone Ages, where they belong, over the next two to three weeks.”
