Rahul Gandhi, her brother and the Lok Sabha’s Leader of the Opposition, will meet with the MP in public.
Following her historic victory in the recently concluded by-elections, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, who recently took the oath of office as the Wayanad MP, will speak to her constituency for the first time on Saturday.
Rahul Gandhi, her brother and the Lok Sabha’s Leader of the Opposition, will meet with the MP in public.
The gathering is set for Saturday in Mukkam, which is in the Kozhikode district’s Thiruvambadi Assembly constituency. With an overwhelming majority of 4,10,931 votes, Priyanka Gandhi won the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election.
Receptions for Priyanka Gandhi are scheduled for later in the day at Karulai in Nilambur, Wandoor, and Edavanna in Eranad at 2:15, 3:30, and 4:30 p.m., respectively.
Earlier on Thursday, Congress supporters cheered loudly and sang “Bharat Jodo” when Priyanka Gandhi formally took over as Wayanad MP.
She took the oath with confidence, holding a booklet of the Indian Constitution, a symbolic gesture made popular by the INDIA bloc during this Parliament session.
Rahul Gandhi’s resignation earlier this year made the by-election necessary. Whether Priyanka could beat her brother’s record-breaking margin was the main question during the campaign.
Nearly 20 years after she first ran for her mother, Sonia Gandhi, in Raebareli and her brother in Amethi during the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, Priyanka’s triumph represents a turning point in her political career.
Her first term as an elected official is regarded as a crucial step in reviving the Congress’ fortunes nationally and securing the party’s presence in Kerala.
