While some viewers expressed worry over some intimate sequences, including a love encounter and a kiss involving the 70-year-old actor, others applauded the reunion of Haasan and director Mani Ratnam.

Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan play the main parts in Mani Ratnam’s film Thug Life. The movie chronicles the adventures of a mobster who guides a young boy through the criminal underworld. The youngster, portrayed by Silambarasan, develops into a reliable ally throughout the years.
A gritty, dramatic mobster tale is hinted at in the trailer, which spans several decades. Sanya Malhotra, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Rohit Saraf, Vaiyapuri, and Trisha Krishnan are also part of the cast.
