It promises to be a stressful weekend for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs as the party prepares for the vice-presidential election on Tuesday, September 9.

The BJP, which is known for running smoothly, is not taking any chances. To ensure maximum involvement of its lawmakers, the party has scheduled a series of events in the national capital commencing on Saturday, September 6.

On Saturday evening, BJP national president and Rajya Sabha leader JP Nadda will host a banquet for both Houses’ MPs. On Sunday, Nadda and many Union Ministers will address members of Parliament at day-long training sessions at the Balayogi Auditorium.

The training continues on Monday, September 8, from 3 to 6 p.m. In a strategic effort, NDA MPs who lead several parliamentary committees have been urged to arrange their sessions on the same day to ensure that members stay in Delhi.

The party’s most recent rigorous ‘Karyashala’ occurred on August 4, 2019, a day before the government attempted to abolish Article 370. That session was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing the significance of such events.

On Monday evening, just before election day, the Prime Minister will host a dinner for NDA MPs and leaders at his official house, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. His address on the eve of the election is anticipated to establish the tone for the partnership.

Polling for the vice-presidential position will take place on September 9, with results expected the same day.

The NDA has nominated Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan as its candidate. The opposition has also fielded a candidate, but the odds are plainly stacked in favor of the ruling alliance, which has a majority in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.

Nonetheless, senior BJP leaders have been tasked with securing every vote, leaving no room for complacency.
