Aaditya Thackeray, the head of the Shiv Sena (UBT), criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday for its activities in Maharashtra, saying the party had “looted” the state rather than tackling its problems.
In an interview with ANI on Friday, Thackeray said that rather than burying the BJP in the past, Prime Minister Narendra Modi need to explain why the party plundered Maharashtra. Thackeray also questioned the BJP for failing to give the state’s youngsters jobs.
“In my opinion, the Prime Minister should explain why the BJP plucked Maharashtra rather than entangling us in the past. Why didn’t the BJP hire young people here and bring them to Gujarat? “They ought to respond to this,” he stated.
In the run-up to the state elections, a Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate from Worli, who was campaigning, also charged that the BJP was not putting the welfare of Maharashtra’s citizens first. He implied that although the BJP might be preoccupied with the past, the state is considering the future. In a direct challenge to the BJP, Thackeray claimed that the state would reject the BJP and prefer Maha Vikas Aghadi because the BJP had a negative outlook for Maharashtra.
Perhaps they are preoccupied with the past, but Maharashtra is focused on the future. The BJP has a negative opinion of Maharashtra. “Maharashtra will only accept MVA; it will reject the BJP,” he stated.
The former Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government was criticized by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who reiterated that the Pune electorate will support the Mahayuti in the next Maharashtra assembly elections and said the government would be remembered as a “anti-development government.”
Speaking at a public rally in Pune on Friday, Shinde criticized the MVA for establishing a “unnatural alliance” motivated by the “greed of power” and accused them of putting power ahead of the general welfare and delaying important development projects.
“I arrived here after attending six public rallies over the day. Pune is a center for industry and IT. It is the state’s cultural center. Pune voters will support Mahayuti, I’m sure of it. When comparing the work of MVA and Mahayuti, you will see that they just put a stop to all of the initiatives, including the metro projects, Samruddhi Mahamarg, and the Jalyukt Shivar Yojana. MVA will be perceived as a government that opposes development. For the sake of power, they formed an unnatural partnership,” he claimed.
Votes from all 288 seats will be counted on November 23, following the Maharashtra assembly elections, which are set for November 20.
In an attempt to regain control of the state, the opposition MVA coalition—which consists of the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and Nationalist Congress Party (SCP)—is vying with the Mahayuti alliance, which is made up of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Ajit Pawar-led NCP, and the Shiv Sena, led by Eknath Shinde.
The Congress won 44 seats, the Shiv Sena 56, and the BJP 105 in the 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections. In 2014, the Congress secured 42 seats, the Shiv Sena 63, and the BJP 122.
