According to UK Foreign Office sources, the Metropolitan Police responded quickly to the situation and vehemently denounced the incident.

After External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s security was breached in London, Britain stated the police responded quickly and issued a warning that “any attempt to intimidate and threaten” is unacceptable.

Following an interactive session at Chatham House, the location of the Royal Institute of International Affairs, on Wednesday, Mr. Jaishankar emerged from the building as a pro-Khalistani demonstrator tried to smash barricades and others yelled anti-Indian slogans.

According to UK Foreign Office sources, the Metropolitan Police responded quickly to the situation and vehemently denounced the incident.

India has expressed disapproval of the “misuse of democratic freedoms” by certain groups, referring to Khalistanis, and stated that it expects the host government to fulfill its diplomatic duties in such situations.

MEA spokeswoman Randhir Jaiswal stated, “We have seen the video of a security breach that occurred during the foreign affairs minister’s travel to the UK. “We condemn the provocative activities of this small group of separatists and extremists.”

“We condemn such elements’ abuse of democratic liberties. In these situations, we anticipate that the host country will fulfill its diplomatic duties to the fullest,” Mr. Jaiswal continued.

Social media videos showed a small number of Khalistani demonstrators yelling anti-Indian and anti-Mr. Jaishankar slogans while brandishing yellow flags. On the opposite side of the street was the foreign minister.

A tall man was spotted trying to breach the police perimeter and sprint in the direction of Mr. Jaishankar’s convoy just as he was ready to depart. The man attempted to impede the motorcade by standing in front of it.

After that, policemen quickly removed him.

This was not the first instance of Khalistani elements breaching security. India reacted strongly after Khalistani forces took down the national flag at the Indian High Commission in London in March 2023.

India requested an explanation for the total “absence of security” at the embassy after the event, calling in the top British ambassador in Delhi.

India has been requesting that the UK take action against elements of the Khalistani movement that operate within British territory.
