Stasher, the luggage storage platform with more than 10,000 locations across 1,200+ cities, has secured £3 million in new funding to accelerate the expansion of its global marketplace and smart luggage locker network.
The funding comprises approximately £2 million (€2.3 million) in growth financing from growth lender Gilion and a £1 million strategic investment from global smart locker provider Hive Box. It will support Stasher’s next stage of growth, including expanding its global marketplace, adding more locations and accelerating the rollout of its smart locker network.
Stasher has historically operated as a marketplace, connecting travellers with hotels and local businesses that have spare space for luggage. The smart locker rollout adds dedicated, self-service storage to that existing network.
Premier Inn is among the first major hotel groups to roll out the lockers, following an initial pilot at Premier Inn London St Pancras in November 2025. Stasher’s smart lockers are now operating across 17 Premier Inn properties in London, Edinburgh and Manchester, alongside Zedwell Trocadero at Piccadilly Circus and StayKula properties in Kensington and Birmingham. The company also works with Staycity Aparthotels across several UK and Irish locations using earlier Stasher locker models.
Early performance has been strong. Bookings across Stasher’s smart locker network are growing 108% month on month, with its highest-performing location currently generating £2,500 per week in locker revenue.
For hotels, luggage storage is a familiar operational challenge, particularly around the hours before check-in and after checkout. Traditional bag storage requires front-desk teams to check luggage in and out, manage tags and find secure space to hold it. Stasher’s lockers allow guests to store and collect their own bags using a QR code, with secure compartments available 24/7. Hotels can also generate ancillary revenue by opening spare capacity to Stasher customers, with every Stasher booking covered by a £10,000 guarantee.
Stasher will use more than a decade of booking and search data to help determine where new lockers are deployed, identifying where travellers are already looking for luggage storage, existing locations are reaching capacity or demand continues beyond staffed opening hours.
Jacob Wedderburn-Day, CEO and Co-Founder of Stasher, said: “Hotels have always been a huge part of the Stasher network, so we know how much demand there is for luggage storage and how much work can sit behind what seems like a simple guest service. This funding gives us the firepower to expand our marketplace and bring smart lockers to more hotels, giving guests greater flexibility while reducing manual handling for hotel teams.”
As part of its strategic partnership with Hive Box, Stasher will receive an initial 100 smart lockers for deployment across the UK and Europe by mid-2027, alongside Hive Box’s £1 million investment. The lockers are manufactured by Hive Box, with its hardware, IoT platform and remote-management technology integrated with Stasher’s booking platform.
Hive Box is one of the world’s largest smart locker operators. As of July 2026, Hive Box operates a smart locker network of over 400,000 lockers, covering 236,000 compounds and serving 481 million consumers, with more than 22 million parcels handled per day on average.
Tommy Xu, VP International Business of Hive Box, said: “By combining Hive Box’s experience in large-scale smart locker infrastructure with Stasher’s strong local network, customer base and deep understanding of traveller needs, we are creating a scalable model for unattended luggage storage across the UK and Europe.”
The venture debt from Gilion will give Stasher additional capital to invest in its growth, including adding more locations to its marketplace and increasing marketing activity.
Fredrik Johansson, Investment Director of Gilion, said: “Stasher is a clear leader in its market, growing fast while keeping customer acquisition costs low in a very attractive segment. We’re impressed by the founders and how disciplined they’ve been in scaling the company. We’re excited to back Stasher as it grows further and cements its position in the global luggage storage space.”
Stasher plans to expand its smart locker network across further hotels, aparthotels, hostels, serviced apartments and other accommodation locations in the UK and Europe. Beyond accommodation, Stasher sees potential for smart lockers across other high-footfall parts of the travel journey, including rail and coach stations, airports, ferry and cruise terminals, visitor attractions, museums, arenas and other major leisure destinations. The company’s wider network and search data can help identify where travellers are already looking for storage and where existing provision is limited.
