A significant problem that affects Galaxy S24 smartphones has forced a worldwide halt to Samsung’s One UI 7 update. Though formal confirmation is still awaited, sources indicate that the rollout may continue earlier than anticipated, possibly beginning on April 15.
Samsung’s OneUI 7 update pause might be shorter than anticipated because the Korean smartphone manufacturer is in a rush to upgrade its older Galaxy handsets with the most recent version. Although Samsung formally stated that the One UI 7 rollout had started on April 7th, many Galaxy owners have been unsuccessfully waiting for the upgrade ever since. Numerous reports verified that Samsung was stopping the One UI 7 update internationally over a week after the scheduled rollout date because of a significant bug it discovered in certain Galaxy S24 smartphones in Korea.
However, Samsung intends to resume the worldwide rollout of One UI 7 earlier than anticipated, if tipster Ice Universe on X (previously Twitter) is to be trusted. According to the tipster, One UI 7 will be made available to Galaxy S24 owners as of today, April 15.
Samsung told Android Authority on Monday that the “One UI 7 rollout schedule is being updated to ensure the best possible experience,” but we do not yet have confirmation from the company on when the official rollout will resume.
Furthermore, it is unclear whether the One UI 7 rollout for the Galaxy S24 will be a worldwide update or limited to particular areas.
Why is One UI 7 rollout delayed?
Once more, Samsung has not formally explained the reason behind the One UI 7 rollout delay, although some sources indicate that there may have been a battery drain issue as well as a problem unlocking Exynos-powered Galaxy S24 smartphones in Korea.
Since then, the flaw has been connected to a problem with the Samsung Secure folder, although it’s difficult to pinpoint the precise issue at this point without an official explanation.
Why is One UI 7 significant?
Samsung initially unveiled One UI 7 at a presentation in November, and the Galaxy S25 devices were released in January. Many people have praised the latest version as the greatest smartphone software experience, particularly in light of Apple’s recent AI issues. Redesigned user interface, smooth animations, quicker app launches, Now Bar for music and notification control from the lock screen, and several AI functions like AI Select, Writing Assist, and Audio Eraser are all included in One UI 7.
While One UI 7 is pre-installed on newer Samsung phones like the Galaxy A56 (Review) and Galaxy A36, older Samsung consumers who own Galaxy S24, Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Z Fold 6 have been left feeling let down. Samsung famously claims that its flagship devices will receive software updates for seven years, but because these updates are frequently delayed, many customers are left questioning if this is a trick by the Korean tech giant to increase sales of its Galaxy S25 family.
