“Bringing a legend of such stature to the silver screen has been a journey of immense perseverance. For years, an extraordinary effort has gone into bringing together the necessary rights, permissions, literary sources and family associations required to tell her story with the respect and authenticity it deserves,” read a press release from the makers.
The project will be bankrolled by Allu Aravind, Rockline Venkatesh and Bunny Vasu under their Geetha Arts, Rockline Entertaiment, and Bunny Vas Works banners.
The MS Subbulakshmi biopic will be launched tomorrow at a grand event at the Music Academy in Chennai. Veteran actor-producer-director Kamal Haasan will grace the event as the chief guest. The event will feature a live performance of the singer’s songs by The Indian Choral Ensemble.
