Qatar Airways has reached a new milestone in its global Starlink programme, further expanding high-speed onboard connectivity across its widebody fleet. The airline has now become the first carrier globally to operate Starlink-equipped Boeing 787-9 aircraft, while completing the rollout across its Boeing 787-8 sub-fleet and bringing the total number of Starlink-equipped widebody aircraft in operation to 150.
The achievement marks another significant step in Qatar Airways’ wider investment in the passenger experience, as the airline continues to expand complimentary, high-speed connectivity across its international network. With Starlink Wi-Fi offering speeds of up to 500 Mbps, passengers can remain connected throughout their journey for work, communication and entertainment, including on long-haul and ultra-long-haul services.
Key highlights include:
Qatar Airways has completed the Starlink rollout across its Boeing 787-8 sub-fleet in seven months
More than half of the airline’s Boeing 787 fleet is now Starlink-equipped, with the full rollout on track for completion by the end of 2026
The airline now operates the world’s first and largest Starlink-equipped Boeing 777, Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 fleets
More than 23 million passengers have connected to Starlink across over 86,000 Qatar Airways flights since its launch in October 2024
Up to 323 Starlink-equipped flights operate daily, offering Wi-Fi speeds of up to 500 Mbps
Qatar Airways was the first airline to offer Starlink on long-haul and ultra-long-haul routes across six continents
The latest milestone follows Qatar Airways’ previous completion of the Starlink rollout across its Boeing 777 fleet in nine months and Airbus A350 fleet in eight months. As deployment continues across the remaining Boeing 787 aircraft, the airline is moving closer to making fast, seamless onboard connectivity a standard part of the passenger experience across a significant proportion of its global network.
