Irfan Ansari, the health minister for Jharkhand, stated on Tuesday that the state has not been impacted by the human metapneumovirus illness and that there is no reason to be alarmed if cases of this type are found elsewhere in the nation. According to Ansari, he is keeping a careful eye on the situation.
Among the numerous respiratory viruses that can infect people of all ages, especially in the winter and early spring, is the human metapneumovirus.
According to experts, the infection is often a mild, self-limiting illness that resolves on its own in the majority of cases.
Following the discovery of five cases in India, the Center has recommended that states increase surveillance for respiratory diseases, such as ILI and SARI, and raise awareness about preventing the spread of the human metapneumovirus (HMPV).
On Tuesday, the Indian Medical Association’s (IMA) Jharkhand chapter also released a health advisory.
According to the statement, HMPV is a common respiratory virus that shares symptoms with COVID-19 and can be prevented in the same way.
Children, those over 60, and those with weakened immune systems were advised to take extra measures.
