Markets enter Samvat 2083 on a strong note

The special trading session comes after a strong rally in domestic equities on Friday, when benchmark indices extended their winning streak to seven consecutive sessions despite weakness in major global markets and technology stocks.

The BSE Sensex surged 1,718.01 points, or 2.17 per cent, to close at 81,028.02, reclaiming the 80,000 mark. The NSE Nifty gained 493.75 points, or 2.01 per cent, to settle at 25,030.35, moving above the 25,000 level.

Banking and financial services stocks led the gains, with both sectoral indices rising more than 2 per cent. Consumer durables and pharmaceutical stocks also recorded gains.

Among broader market indices, the Nifty 100 emerged as the top performer, advancing over 1 per cent, although the overall performance of broader markets remained mixed.

Investors will enter Samvat 2083 following Friday’s sharp rally, with global developments, foreign investor activity and broader market sentiment likely to influence the direction of domestic equities in the coming sessions.
