The National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro is delighted to announce that Montenegro has been selected to host ABTA’s Travel Convention in 2027, welcoming leaders from across the UK travel industry to one of Europe’s most exciting emerging destinations.
The announcement was made today in Funchal, Madeira, at the close of ABTA’s 2026 Travel Convention.
The Convention will take place at the five-star Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay Resort, where delegates will enjoy exclusive use of the hotel. Set on the shores of the Bay of Kotor – a UNESCO World Heritage Site often described as one of the most beautiful bays in Europe – the resort sits within one of Montenegro’s most striking natural landscapes, framed by dramatic mountain scenery, medieval towns and the Adriatic coastline.
Dr Ana Tripković Marković, Director of the National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro, said: “We are delighted that Montenegro has been selected to host ABTA’s Travel Convention in 2027. This prestigious event represents a significant opportunity to deepen our cooperation with the British travel industry and further strengthen the ties between our two markets. The UK is one of Montenegro’s key strategic source markets, with tourist arrivals and overnight stays demonstrating sustained growth in recent years, supported by enhanced air connectivity.
We are confident that hosting the Convention will provide an exceptional platform to showcase the richness and diversity of Montenegro’s tourism offering to leading representatives of the British travel industry, foster new partnerships, and further reinforce Montenegro’s position as an attractive and competitive destination in this important market.”
Delegates will discover a bay rich in history and natural beauty, from the walled Old Town of Kotor and the elegant marina of Porto Montenegro to historic waterside settlements and a wealth of outdoor experiences both on land and at sea.
Beyond the Bay of Kotor, Montenegro offers remarkable diversity within a compact destination. Within its small borders, visitors can discover soaring mountains, dramatic canyons, vast lakes and wetlands, and a beautiful coastline of varied beaches and secluded coves. The country is home to five national parks, offering outdoor adventures and nature-based experiences. Combined with historic towns, rich cultural heritage, authentic local experiences and excellent gastronomy, Montenegro allows travellers to combine coast, mountains, nature and culture in a single trip.
Strong air connectivity with the UK, including direct flights to Tivat and Podgorica, makes Montenegro easily accessible to British travellers. Delegates will fly into Tivat International Airport, just 13km from the hotel.
Mark Tanzer, Chief Executive of ABTA, said: “We’re excited to be taking ABTA’s Travel Convention in 2027 to Montenegro for the first time. The Bay of Kotor is one of Europe’s most striking destinations, combining outstanding natural beauty with fascinating history, culture and hospitality. Montenegro is becoming increasingly popular with UK holidaymakers and Kotor Bay will provide a stunning backdrop for our flagship event. We look forward to working closely with our hosts to deliver an exceptional Convention, whilst giving delegates the opportunity to experience first-hand everything this remarkable destination has to offer.”
