Marvel Studios is all set to re-release Avengers: Endgame in theatres worldwide on September 25, in anticipation of Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to releasein December. The film will be re-released as Avengers: Endgame Encore with all-new footage that would serve as a lead-up to Doomsday.
Marvel unveiled an all-new trailer on Wednesday (August 26) to announce the news. The trailer features scenes from the 2019 film with upgraded colour grading. Interestingly, according to Marvel, audiences will also get to see an exclusive look at Doomsday, including new footage, a custom introduction, and a new post-credits scene.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Endgame followed the events of Thanos’ snap in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, which wiped out half of all life across the universe. In the 2019 film, set five years after the snap, the surviving members of the Avengers unite for one final attempt to bring back those who disappeared.
Written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the film featured an ensemble cast that included Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin, among others.
Endgame grossed more than $2.799 billion in the worldwide box office, becoming one of the highest-grossing films of all-time.
