Scams involving mobile towers are spreading quickly. These individuals pose as representatives of major telecom providers, including Vi, Jio, BSNL, and Airtel. Although no tower is really constructed, they defraud people of their money by claiming to be renting land.

In the name of erecting mobile towers, some people are defrauding others. These individuals identify themselves as representatives of major telecom providers, including Vi, Jio, BSNL, and Airtel. Although no tower is really constructed, they defraud people of their money by claiming to be renting land. TRAI has published a video of such scammers and warned the public to be wary of them.

In addition to TRAI, several Indian telecom associations have issued warnings, including DIPA and COAI. Through newspapers and other channels, these individuals are deceiving people into believing that they will rent their land, pay them a substantial sum of money, and provide one of the members with employment. All of this, however, is false.

These scammers are really astute. Under the guise of TRAI and the Department of Telecommunications, they create fictitious documents that appear authentic. They then inform individuals that they will make a lot of money if they rent out their land. In practice, however, they steal money from people and flee.

According to TRAI, neither the Department of Telecommunications nor TRAI ever contact or correspond with individuals requesting that they erect mobile towers. These scammers defraud consumers by creating fictitious documents under the guise of TRAI and the Department of Telecommunications. Actually, only a select few businesses—like American Tower Corporation and Indus Towers—are permitted to erect mobile towers in India.

For our mobile phones to function correctly, mobile towers are essential. Either the telecom firms themselves or businesses with government approval erect these towers. Verify a company’s information if they claim to be installing a mobile tower on your property. To find out if that business has official approval, go to the Department of Telecommunications’ website (dot.gov.in).
