The new 14-inch MacBook Pro, which features Apple’s most recent M5 processor, has been unveiled in India. Although the design is still the same, this year’s refresh is notable for its performance boost. Pre-orders for the new MacBook Pro have already begun, and it will formally go on sale on October 22. Here are the specifics, including features, costs, and more for India.
Apple MacBook Pro 14: India prices
The base model, which has 512GB of SSD storage and 16GB of RAM, costs Rs 1,69,900 for customers in India. Two further basic configurations are also available from Apple: a 16GB RAM model with 1TB of storage for Rs 1,89,900, and a 24GB RAM variant with 1TB of SSD for Rs 2,09,900. Through Apple’s online shop, customers may customize their laptops with up to 32GB of RAM and up to 4TB of storage, going beyond these options. That is twice as much storage as the machine from the previous year.
Space Black and Silver are the available finishes for the laptop. With Apple offering a Rs 10,000 discount through its Education Store, students also benefit significantly. This makes the MacBook Pro somewhat more affordable for students and young professionals who want the additional performance.
The M5 chip at the core
The addition of Apple’s proprietary M5 processor is the most significant change here. The new iPad Pro and Vision Pro headsets are also powered by this chip, demonstrating Apple’s broader effort to standardize performance throughout its high-end ecosystem. In addition to a 16-core Neural Engine that powers on-device AI activities, the chip has a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU.
Design and display
The new MacBook Pro doesn’t make an effort to reinvent itself on the surface. One of the sharpest screens in the laptop class, the 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR screen, has been retained by Apple. The display has a resolution of 3024 x 1964 pixels, a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz, a pixel density of 254 ppi, and a maximum brightness of 1,600 nits in HDR mode and 1,000 nits in SDR. Apple also offers a nano-texture glass coating to reduce reflections for people who operate in bright studio settings.
The chassis features the same sturdy aluminum construction as the one from last year. With three Thunderbolt ports, an HDMI port, an SDXC card slot, MagSafe 3 magnetic charging, and a headphone jack, the ports are well-covered. The package still includes an illuminated Magic Keyboard with Touch ID.
Software and features
Apple hasn’t yet jumped to Wi-Fi 7, which several competitors are experimenting with, as connectivity remains on Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. The MacBook Pro has a six-speaker system with Dolby Atmos compatibility for rich audio and a 12-megapixel front camera with Center Stage for video conferences. Touch ID, which is built into the power button, handles security.
The laptop is fully compatible with Apple Intelligence features and comes pre-installed with macOS Tahoe (macOS 26). From text summarization to image editing, these AI products use Neural Engine-powered on-device processing to increase productivity.
Charging and battery life
An further area that Apple keeps highlighting is battery efficiency. With a single charge, the 72.4Wh battery can stream videos for up to 24 hours, which should last most users through the workday and beyond. With the opportunity to upgrade to a speedier 96W power converter if necessary, Apple includes a 70W USB-C charger in the package. With a weight of 1.55 kg and dimensions of 312.6 x 155 x 221.2 mm, the laptop is sufficiently portable for professionals who travel regularly.
