Union Minister Jitendra Singh claimed that Jawaharlal Nehru’s actions, which blamed him for the country’s division and the state of affairs in Jammu and Kashmir, are the reason why PoK exists today.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh called Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s comments about India regaining Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) if Congressman and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi were appointed prime minister “hilarious” on Friday.
He claimed that Jawaharlal Nehru, the former prime minister, was accountable for both the nation’s division and the state of affairs in Jammu and Kashmir, and that this is why PoK exists now.
“Any Congress leader who claims that the PoK would have been India’s part if Rahul Gandhi had been the country’s prime minister is absurd. However, the PoJK would not have existed today if Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Rahul Gandhi’s great-grandfather, had not served as India’s prime minister. His acts caused the country to first split, followed by the division of Jammu and Kashmir,” Mr. Singh told ANI.
“We must not forget that when the India-Pakistan war was going on, and our forces were in a situation to win the PoK back, it was the then PM Jawaharlal Nehru who declared a unilateral ceasefire on the Akashvani without consulting with anyone,” he stated.
Mr. Singh’s comments followed Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s claims that India would have reclaimed PoK if Rahul Gandhi had been the prime minister.
He was speaking at a gathering that sparked debate on why Prime Minister Narendra Modi, despite holding an all-party meeting prior to the start of military attacks, had declared a truce in the current military operations against Pakistan without first engaging political parties.
Why wasn’t an all-party meeting held to get everyone’s input before a truce was announced? While taking part in the Congress ‘Jai Hind Yatra’ in Nizampet, Hyderabad, on Thursday, I questioned Mr. Reddy.
Mr. Reddy referred to PM Modi as a “expired rupee” when speaking at the event. “Modi is an expired rupee, like an invalid note worth 1000 rupees,” he remarked. Rahul Gandhi’s leadership is needed in this nation today. Should a man such as Rahul Gandhi have served as this nation’s prime minister, he would have emulated (past prime minister) Indira Gandhi, followed Kaali’s (Maata) example, divided Pakistan in two, and reclaimed the PoK.”
Mr. Reddy made analogies to the leadership of the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and her firm actions against China and Pakistan, including the war in 1971 that resulted in the formation of Bangladesh.
