Inside Bigg Boss Tamil Season 10 house: Gender-neutral bedroom and the common man mural steal limelight

As you gear up for the premiere of the show on September 6 at 6 PM on JioHotstar and Vijay TV, here’s a first look at the house, which we are told took 45 days to create.

First and foremost, the biggest highlight of the season is the introduction of the Common Man in the game — this will be the first season to feature one or more commoners as contestants. What’s interesting is how the set design also reflects this theme, with a towering mural of the common man erected near the Confession Room.

The mural, made with earthy colours and eco-friendly materials, features a commoner wearing a mundu in motion. Fascinatingly, the mural also reflects the idea that all contestants — celebrities or otherwise — have to live as commoners, without any status or hierarchy, inside the Bigg Boss House.

According to the team behind the set design, the spaces are also designed to evoke different moods and a positive atmosphere.

Another theme sure to impress audiences is how the Bigg Boss house pays homage to Mother Nature; from the predominant use of the colour green to the many artefacts, decor, and accessories shaped like birds, the house truly comes alive.

An addition to the season sure to spark conversation is the introduction of a gender-neutral bedroom — the house features one huge bedroom, while previous seasons featured segregated bedrooms for men and women.

We said there’s no hierarchy, but the captain is the captain. Remember the special bedroom that winners of a few tasks got to enjoy in the previous season? The tenth season now features an independent, premium bedroom for the captain of the week.

In a major shift from previous seasons, the dining table is now moved to the centre of the courtyard, allowing contestants to move freely around.

Around the courtyard are many recreational spaces, which also feature some soothing artefacts. According to the production designers, these spaces are designed to encourage togetherness in the house.

If colour theory is to be believed, the colours in the set design might truly play a huge role in the moods of the contestants this season. On one hand, the living room features geometrical shapes with vibrant colours, while…

…the walls around the cosy corner opposite the living room feature pastel shades. According to the crew, the colours are intended to reflect both masculine and feminine energies.

And this is how the kitchen, an area that has given innumerable memories to participants, now looks. The kitchen features many modern utilities along with aesthetic decor.

Here’s the first look at the Confession Room, where emotions usually run high.

This season, the restroom area at the Bigg Boss house is designed in black-and-white colours, with artefacts and functional accessories adding flair.

Oh, not to forget the swimming pool, a place that usually attracts a lot of drama, is back once again.

The lawn also features functional solar panels, aimed at encouraging green energy. The panels will power a significant part of the house. Also, to commemorate the 10th edition of Bigg Boss Tamil, the lawn area now features 10 windows.

Meanwhile, here’s an opportunity to experience your own Bigg Boss moment. The showrunners have launched a new initiative called Carni-vizha to commemorate the show’s 10-year journey. In this initiative, a specially designed Bigg Boss Celebration Van will travel across key cities including Chennai, Vellore, Salem, Coimbatore, Trichy, Madurai and Tirunelveli, allowing fans to experience the world of Bigg Boss up close. The van has a dedicated Confession Room, where members of the public can step in and experience Bigg Boss.

But that’s not all! We are told that there’s a surprise element to the house, one that is very close to the lawn area and right opposite the seating area in this picture.
