The BJP strongly responded to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s dismissal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s chaiwala story as “drama” for votes on Thursday, calling his comments “elitist arrogance.”

Kharge questioned Modi about whether he had “ever made tea” in his vicious attack, casting doubt on the veracity of what he referred to as this working-class background “narrative.”

Speaking at the Rachnatmak Congress-organized National MGNREGA Workers’ Convention, Kharge stated, “He says ‘I am a chaiwala’ only to garner votes.” “Have you ever used a kettle to make tea and carried it around inside train compartments?”

He called Modi’s assertions “drama” and claimed the BJP-led Center prioritizes electoral rhetoric over real progress for the poor. He claimed that the leadership would genuinely comprehend the “pain of workers” if they had ever engaged in hard labor themselves.

Kharge also attacked the central government’s infrastructure record, claiming that basic railway development has stagnated in comparison to earlier periods, despite the intense hoopla surrounding high-speed rail and Vande Bharat trains. He claimed that although the PM is fast to “wave the green flag” at inaugurations, his administration has not set new precedents at the same rate as during the UPA or Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first prime minister.

He remarked, “Modi ji says they will bring bullet trains, but forget bullet trains—even new railway tracks they haven’t been able to lay.”

In closing, he referred to the administration as a “government of two people”—Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah—who “just keep roaming around doing election propaganda.”

The Prime Minister is being targeted because he shields the nation from extreme beliefs, according to the BJP, which denounced his comments as an indication of “elitist arrogance.” The “arrogance of Congress never comes down,” according to party spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari, who also claimed that Kharge was following Rahul Gandhi’s orders.

Congress’s haughtiness never diminishes! Mallikarjun Kharge criticizes Prime Minister Narendra Modi by saying, “Kabhi chai banaya hai,” under Rahul Gandhi’s orders. Because PM Narendra Modi Ji stands firmly between Urban Naxals and Bharat, he has been the target of daily personal assaults and abuse of his mother. In a post on X, Bhandari declared, “The Indian people will teach Congress a lesson in 2029, just as they did in 2014.”
