Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the G20 Brazil Summit. The two presidents talked on enhancing India-France relations and working together in the fields of space, energy, and artificial intelligence.

During their meeting on the margins of the G20 Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron talked about ways to continue their close collaboration in areas like AI, energy, and space.

The French president received praise from the prime minister for organizing the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris earlier this year.

“Meeting my friend, President Emmanuel Macron, is always a matter of immense joy,” Modi wrote late Monday in a post on X.

We discussed how India and France will continue to collaborate closely in fields like energy, space, artificial intelligence, and other cutting-edge fields. Additionally, our countries will collaborate closely to strengthen ties amongst individuals,” he continued.

In addition, the prime minister shared photos of the meeting and his greeting to Macron.

Macron said on X, “We have a rich and multifaceted partnership with India, so it is always a pleasure to meet with Prime Minister @NarendraModi.”

He also included a brief video of the two leaders laughing and hugging. “We reviewed the progress on the initiatives launched during my State visit last January, as well as key international issues,” he wrote in the post.

The meeting was characterized as “advancing India-France Strategic Partnership” by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in its post on X.

The post stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron during the G20 Brazil Summit.

The presidents talked on ways to improve trade and investment, technology, artificial intelligence, and DPI between France and India. Additionally, they discussed regional and global problems, including as the Indo-Pacific, the MEA wrote in the post.

After finishing a two-day trip to Nigeria, Modi landed in the Brazilian city on Sunday. On the fringes of the summit, he met with leaders from Italy, the UK, Indonesia, Norway, and Portugal.

Modi had a brief meeting and conversation with US President Joe Biden earlier in the day. What transpired between the two leaders was not immediately clear.

On the fringes of the meeting on Monday, Modi also spoke with leaders from Brazil, Singapore, and Spain.
