The biggest airline in India, IndiGo, revealed a compensation package on Thursday for travelers who were negatively affected by extensive operational disruptions from December 3 to 5. According to the airline, travelers whose flights were canceled or delayed for a long time during this time will receive travel vouchers of Rs 10,000.

According to the airline, the coupons can be used for any future IndiGo flight and are good for a full year. This compensation is provided in addition to the necessary payment mandated by DGCA regulations for cancellations made within 24 hours of departure.

This compensation is in addition to IndiGo’s obligation under current government regulations, which state that customers whose flights were canceled within 24 hours of departure time will receive compensation of Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000, depending on the flight’s block time, according to the statement.

Who receives a special IndiGo coupon?

According to IndiGo, it “regrettably acknowledges that a portion of its customers traveling on December 3, 4, and 5 were stranded for many hours at certain airports, and a number of them were severely impacted by congestion.” The airline stated that it is providing vouchers especially for travelers who are badly impacted.

Authorities have ordered the airline to reduce its winter schedule by 10% in order to stabilize operations after the interruptions sparked regulatory attention. Prior to the December 2 interruptions, IndiGo was running about 2,300 flights every day.
