“Russia warned the United States against’military intervention’ in the Iran-Israel war on Thursday,” AFP reported.

“Russia warned the United States against’military intervention’ in the Iran-Israel war on Thursday,” AFP reported.

Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for Russia’s foreign ministry, told reporters, “We would like to particularly warn Washington against military intervention in the situation, which would be an extremely dangerous step with truly unpredictable negative consequences.”

A “Chernobyl-style catastrophe” might result from an Israeli strike on Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant, the president of Russia’s nuclear energy corporation said on Thursday.

After claiming that Israel had hit the site, an Israeli military spokeswoman later referred to this claim as “a mistake” and stated that he was unable to confirm or reject that the Bushehr site on the Gulf coast had been hit.

Russia constructed Bushehr, Iran’s only nuclear power facility now in operation, according to Reuters.

US President Donald Trump said he was thinking about helping Israel in the strikes on Iran a day earlier. His words were, “I may do it, I may not do it,”

Sergei Ryabkov, Russia’s deputy foreign minister, cautioned the United States on Wednesday against providing Israel with direct military assistance. “We warn Washington against even such hypothetical, speculative options,” Ryabkov added. The entire scenario would become drastically unstable as a result of that action.

Zakharova, meanwhile, said that the world was “millimeters” away from disaster due to Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear equipment.

“Nuclear facilities are being struck,” she told Reuters, adding that particular damage has already been reported by the U.N. nuclear safety agency.

“Where is the entire global community’s concern? Environmentalists, where are they all? I’m not sure if they believe that this radiation wave won’t reach them because they are so far away. In reference to the 2011 accident at the Japanese nuclear plant, she added, “Well, let them read what happened at Fukushima.”

Along with the United Arab Emirates, Russia demanded on Wednesday that the war between Israel and Iran end immediately and offered a diplomatic and political solution to Tehran’s nuclear problem.

Following a phone call between President Vladimir Putin and his counterpart Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates, the Kremlin issued a statement stating that “the imperative of an early cessation of hostilities and intensification of political and diplomatic efforts in the interests of resolving controversial issues related to the Iranian nuclear program was emphasised.”

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were summoned by Russian President Vladimir Putin last week with the offer to mediate a settlement.

Trump, however, objected to Putin resolving the dispute between Israel and Iran.

Trump addressed reporters about Putin’s attempts on Wednesday, saying, “He actually offered to help mediate, I said: ‘do me a favor, mediate your own.'”

“All right, let’s mediate Russia first. I told Vladimir, “You can worry about this later; let’s mediate Russia first.”
