After Border 2, Dhurandhar 2, and Bhooth Bangla, Dhamaal 4 is the fourth HIT movie of the year.
With a net revenue of Rs. 9.50 crore on Tuesday, Dhamaal 4 has become an HIT movie. This is especially true given the Wednesday advancements that came in around Monday. The HIT decision is essentially sealed at this time, though it will be announced later today. After Border 2, Dhurandhar 2, and Bhooth Bangla, Dhamaal 4 is the fourth HIT movie of the year.
The first week is expected to reach Rs. 96-97 crore nett, while the five-day running total is around Rs. 82.25 crore nett.
Even though the movie did not take advantage of the promotions, collections increased yesterday. On Tuesdays, however, there is a noticeable increase in the number of attendees, who are accustomed to receiving discounts. Whether it’s correct or not, I think it’s awful that this movie isn’t getting discounts. One of the nicest things to come out of the show in a long time is the Tuesday discounts. For a major movie or a holiday, it makes sense to skip them. Dhamaal 4 isn’t exactly hitting BLOCKBUSTER numbers—rather, it’s barely at HIT level, and there isn’t a holiday. In the short run, you get those extra lakhs, but you are effectively cheating the audience who came expecting a discount and may not in future.
Before Spider-Man: Brand New Day is released, Dhamaal 4 will be available for about three weeks. The Odyssey is scheduled for this week, but it is intended for a whole different audience and set of screens. In the absence of direct competition, the second Friday is probably going to be much stronger than Welcome. The Wednesday decrease was painful. Welcome to the Jungle, but the real killer was the Friday drop.
