Vinay Shankar Pandey, Uttarakhand Chief Minister’s Secretary and Garhwal Division Commissioner, said on Monday that the Char Dham Yatra and Hemkund Sahib Yatra will be postponed until September 5.

The Meteorological Department issued red and orange weather alerts for severe rain, prompting the decision.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that various areas in the region are currently under red and orange alerts issued by the Meteorological Department, and the next 24-48 hours will be critical.

Some of our districts are in red alert, while others are in orange… The next 24-48 hours are critical, and we must all be vigilant. Our whole district administration, including the NDRF, SDRF, and all agencies, is on high alert… We are also monitoring the Nanak Sagar Dam. It is flowing 5 feet below the danger level,” Chief Minister Dhami stated on Sunday.

The Uttarakhand Chief Minister stated, “We are offering urgent help to individuals whose homes have been damaged by the calamity and are moving them to safer locations. Camps have also been set up. Our goal is to meet all essential needs in the aid camps… Efforts to reopen the blocked routes are underway.”

Additionally, the CM has asked district-level officers to be on round-the-clock alert in light of the Meteorological Department’s red and orange warnings for most districts during the next few days.

Chief Minister Dhami, who chaired a meeting with senior officials, stated that the State is still dealing with issues as a result of severe rainfall, and that the next few days will be much more tough.

He urged all officers to take the necessary precautions to safeguard the safety of ordinary persons. Special attention should be applied on the routes due to the potential of landslides, and all preventative measures should be taken in anticipation of waterlogging in the plains.
