According to sources, 220 companies of security personnel were received in Delhi, including those from the CRPF, BSF, SSB, ITBP, CISF, and RPF.

Shortly after former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the Election Commission had removed Punjab Police and installed Gujarat Police in the National Capital Territory, top Delhi Police sources clarified the situation.

According to sources, 220 companies of security personnel were received in Delhi, including those from the CRPF, BSF, SSB, ITBP, CISF, and RPF. In addition, 70 police companies from Rajasthan, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Chandigarh, and Himachal Pradesh were deployed. These companies were received in Delhi in three phases, with seven to eight Gujarat Police companies deployed.

Sources stated that the deployment happened after 250 companies were asked to ensure law and order as the February 5 Assembly elections approached. These organizations will be in charge of tasks such as flying squads, interstate border checks, area dominance, and security at crucial polling locations. They will also work at counting centers and as quick reaction teams.

A reaction from Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh Police was anticipated, with farmers protesting in the first two states and the Maha Kumbh taking place in Prayagraj, according to sources.

Mr Kejriwal questioned the deployment of eight SRPF companies from Gujarat. The SRPF companies arrived in Delhi on January 13 in accordance with the Election Commission’s (EC) directive, said Commandant SRPF, Bhachau, Tejas Patel on Saturday.

According to Punjab’s Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, the state police component deployed for Kejriwal’s security was withdrawn in response to Delhi Police and the Election Commission’s directives.

Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi, meanwhile, chastised Kejriwal for his lack of understanding of the election body’s rules. “Now I understand why you’re called a fraud.” “Kejriwal ji, as a former Chief Minister, I’m surprised you’re unaware of the Election Commission’s guidelines,” Sanghavi wrote in his post.

“They have demanded forces from multiple states, not only Gujarat. In fact, the Election Commission of India has ordered SRP deployment from various states, which is standard process. According to their request, eight SRP firms from Gujarat were dispatched to Delhi for the upcoming poll on November 1/25. “Why the selective mention of Gujarat, Kejriwal ji?” he continued.

Polling for all 70 Delhi assembly seats will take place on February 5, with results announced on February 8.
