Veteran Urvashi will be essaying yet another powerful character in Aasha, slated for release on September 11. The Malayalam film, written and directed by Safar Sanal, will see her locking horns with yet another powerful performer in Malayalam cinema, Joju George. This is learnt to be their first film together in pivotal roles.
In the trailer released today, Urvashi, playing the titular role, is shown as a stubborn, short-tempered woman who gets into an altercation with Joju’s character, Jeemon, over a road accident. The trailer reveals that while she is resolved to go ahead with the case against Joju, he threatens her with serious consequences.
From the trailer, the film seems to have all the ingredients for yet another path-breaking role for Urvashi, who won the National and State film awards for her character in Ullozhokku (2024).

Aishwarya Lekshmi plays Anagha, Urvashi’s daughter, in the film. Veteran Vijayaraghavan is also in the cast, along with Prasanth Alexander, Joy Mathew, Shari and Kottayam Ramesh. The screenplay is by Joju, Safar and Pani-fame Ramesh Girija, who has also acted in the movie.
Veteran cinematographer Madhu Neelakandan has cranked the camera for the film, which has music by Govind Vasantha and editing by Shan Mohammed. Ajayan Adat, who has done the sound design, has also acted in the film.
The film is produced by Vinayaka Ajith, who has bankrolled projects such as Ponman, Gaganachari, Masthishka Maranam, and Sarkeet.
