The Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna starrer stormed past the Rs. 50 crore nett mark at the Indian box office.
With Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna in the major roles, Cocktail 2 made between Rs. 5.50 crore and Rs. 6.00 crore nett on its first Monday, a roughly 50% decrease from its opening day. The romantic comedy drama reached a net revenue of Rs. 50 crore at the Indian box office during its four-day run.
These figures seem impressive on the surface, yet they are greatly enhanced by other influences. The actual collections would have been significantly lower if there had been no such drive. If this boost is lifted at all, that’s when the true test will start.
The audience’s mixed reactions to Cocktail 2 are troubling for the film’s future box office performance. In the upcoming days, the film will compete with Welcome to the Jungle, which could impede its progress.
In 2012, the first movie, Cocktail, opened at Rs. 10.50 crore nett, which would have been far more if inflation had been taken into account. With a total run of Rs. 74.50 crore nett, it was a clear success. It will be intriguing to observe the sequel’s box office success and whether it can equal that of the original movie.
