In response to criticism, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has decided to postpone the price increase for Bengaluru Metro, which was supposed to take effect on February 9.

The BMRCL stated in a statement that a final decision is still pending and that the prior announcement regarding the fare revision would not be implemented until further orders.

“The February 5 media release announcing the implementation of the annual fare revision with effect from February 9 has been kept on hold until further orders,” BMRCL stated, clarifying its stance.

The company also stated that before a final decision is reached, the issue would be discussed by its board. “The board’s review will be followed by communication of the revised fare decision.”
