Thousands of workers in Walmart’s pharmacy division have received pay increases and promotions.

Walmart said in a press release that it had promoted 3,000 pharmacy technicians to operations team lead positions, raising their hourly wage from $22 to $28.

Walmart stated in the press release, “We are increasing our investment in our local pharmacy teams by creating new leadership roles and increasing hourly earning potential for thousands of associates in order to support these associates and the critical role they play in customers’ health and wellness nationwide.”

To what extent has the salary been raised?

Walmart declared that 3,000 technicians who were promoted to team lead will now earn $28 per hour instead of $22.

Up to $42 per hour might be earned by those making $28 per hour. Additionally, depending on where they work, employees may receive extra compensation.

Additionally, the business announced that pharmacy technicians, who presently make an average of $22 per hour, will be able to receive up to $40.50 per hour.

With the potential to make $42 per hour, excluding bonuses, depending on the location, Walmart stated that team leads will assist in managing day-to-day pharmacy operations and assisting pharmacy managers and pharmacists.

Why is Walmart Pharmacy increasing wages?

Walmart’s decision to increase employee wages coincides with the company’s efforts to bolster local pharmacy teams and increase staffing throughout its 4,600 sites. It coincides with the company’s expansion of pharmacy delivery, access to Eli Lilly’s LillyDirect program, and Better Care Services, among other digital initiatives.

It stated, “These adjustments help customers continue to receive dependable, high-quality care close to home and support our plans to grow pharmacy teams this year.”

The investment was referred to by the corporation as more than merely remuneration.

“They aim to provide clear, long-term career opportunities for colleagues while enhancing the care experience in communities around the nation. According to the organization, pharmacy technicians play a crucial role in the healthcare process by helping patients, organizing care, and keeping pharmacies operating efficiently.

Who qualifies?

Walmart claims that anyone can apply for the jobs.

It stated that being a pharmacy sales associate, technician, or operations team lead does not require a college degree.

Since 2016, more than 22,000 Walmart employees have earned their certification as pharmacy technicians thanks to the company’s funding of their education.

Walmart offers pharmacy associates a number of advantages, such as affordable, high-quality health insurance, 401(k) plans with a 6% company match, paid time off, including parental leave, and an associate discount on the majority of retail merchandise.
