US President Donald Trump told reporters that the 37-year-old woman who was shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer in Minneapolis on Wednesday was at fault because she attempted to “run over” the officer.

Trump told The New York Times, “She behaved horribly,” in response to a question about whether firing at a car under such conditions was appropriate. She then ran him over. She didn’t attempt to run him over.

Video footage of the shooting was later shown by the president. He acknowledged the gravity of the situation before it started, adding, “With all of it being said, no, I don’t like that happening.” “That was a vicious situation that took place,” he said, characterizing the event as violent. “It’s a terrible scene,” he added at the conclusion of the video. It’s terrible to watch, in my opinion. No, I detest seeing that.

Protests Spread After ICE Agent Shoots Woman

Protests around the country have been sparked by the shooting of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good by an ICE officer. The incident happened during the most recent immigration enforcement operations in large cities by the Trump administration.

The killing on Wednesday is at least the fifth murder connected to these crackdowns, according to the Associated Press.

What Is Shown in the Video

Videos of the incident show ICE agents approaching a car that is stopped in the middle of a street. As the vehicle tries to move away, one agent points a gun at the driver and at least two shots are heard.

The car then appears to lose control and crashes into a vehicle parked along the street.

JD Vance, the vice president, supports The Police Officer

The police who killed Good “discharged his weapon in self-defense,” according to Vance, and “other angles of the video show the woman clearly hit the officer with her car while accelerating.”

Various Testimonies from Local and Federal Authorities

Different accounts of what caused the deadly shooting have been provided by American officials.

In what she called “domestic terrorism,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem claimed that Good had been “stalking and impeding” cops all day and had tried to “weaponize her vehicle” by running over the officer.

She was “caring for her neighbors” when she was shot and killed, according to the Minneapolis City Council.

The federal narrative was also contested by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who promised to undertake a “full, fair, and expeditious investigation” into the incident.

A federal law enforcement officer approached the woman on foot while she was inside her car obstructing traffic on Portland Avenue, according to Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara.

O’Hara claims that “and she began to drive off.” The deadly incident happened at this precise moment.
