Trailer for Materialists: A24 released the eagerly anticipated trailer for Materialists on Tuesday. The movie, which stars Pedro Pascal, Chris Evans, and Dakota Johnson, is a sequel to Celine Song’s Oscar-nominated Past Lives.

In Materialists, which is set in New York City, Dakota Johnson plays Lucy, an ambitious matchmaker who is willing to stop strangers on the street in order to see if she can find them a marriage. She works with a variety of clientele, including those who are “trying to settle” and those who have specific needs, such as “nothing over 20 BMI” and “more grow.”
Even after using her matchmaking abilities to finalize her ninth wedding, Lucy is still unsure of her own romantic journey. According to the trailer, she is entangled in a romantic triangle with Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans.
Pedro Pascal is Dakota Johnson’s perfect mate in Materialists, while Chris Evans portrays her flawed ex-lover. Her perfect mate owns a $12 million apartment, but her ex, a waiter, recalls her drink.
As things get more complicated over time, Dakota remarks, “I don’t think I’m very good at my job, anymore,” in line with Lucy. People marry “because they’re lonely, and because they’re hopeful,” she adds.

The film also stars Zoe Winters, Marin Ireland, Dasha Nekrasova, Louisa Jacobson, Sawyer Spielberg, and Dakota Johnson in addition to Chris Evans, Pedro Pascal, and Chris Evans.
David Hinojosa of 2AM and Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler of Killer Films are supporting the movie.
Sony Pictures will manage the film’s foreign rights, while A24 will be in charge of its US release.
When will Materialists release?
On June 13, 2025, materialists will appear in theaters around the United States.
