TAP AIR PORTUGAL INVESTS IN AN INCREASINGLY CUSTOMER-CENTRIC TRAVEL EXPERIENCE

New travel kits, PressReader on board, ‘Skip Meal’ option and a partnership with LUGGit expand services available to passengers

TAP Air Portugal introduces new features designed to further personalise the travel experience and cater to passengers’ various needs, from comfort and relaxation to access to digital content. The airline is now offering new travel kits on long-haul flights, complimentary access to PressReader via the in-flight Wi-Fi portal, that includes UK titles, and the ‘Skip Meal’ option, which allows customers to indicate in advance that they would prefer to skip their in-flight meal, as well as a new service for the collection, storage and delivery of luggage through a partnership with LUGGit.

TAP’s new travel kits are now being made available to passengers travelling in Business and Economy Prime classes on the airline’s long-haul flights. Named “The Blaze”, the new collection features a revamped design, new contents and a stronger focus on sustainability and Portuguese identity and is available in various colour combinations associated with Portugal. Crafted from recycled materials and inspired by Portuguese craftsmanship, the new bag combines functionality and elegance, reflecting the TAP brand identity and Portuguese hospitality.

The renewal of the travel kits also involves the introduction of new products from Portuguese companies. Among the new additions are socks from PEDEMEIA, a Portuguese family-run business specialising in textile production, and wellness and personal care products from 8950, a brand inspired by the landscapes and scents of the Algarve. The new collection also incorporates recycled materials in several of its components, from the bag to the inner lining, as well as accessories made from sustainably sourced materials, such as the bamboo toothbrush and kraft paper packaging.

TAP is also now offering its customers PressReader, a digital library of newspapers and magazines accessible on board Airbus A330-900 and Airbus A321LR aircraft. This new service allows passengers to access a selection of national and international newspapers and magazines free of charge via the aircraft’s Wi-Fi portal, without the need to purchase an internet package. The catalogue includes content covering general news, business, travel, technology, sport, lifestyle and entertainment, featuring titles from markets such as Portugal, Brazil and the United Kingdom, amongst others.

To access the service, passengers simply need to connect their personal device to the aircraft’s Wi-Fi network, log in to TAP’s in-flight entertainment system and select the section dedicated to PressReader, where they can browse the available titles directly on their device. PressReader complements the service already available in TAP’s lounges in Lisbon and Paris and represents a further step towards enhancing passengers’ digital experience during their journey.

TAP is also introducing the ‘Skip Meal’ option on long-haul flights for passengers who wish to prioritise rest during their journey. The request can be made on the airline’s website, via the ‘Manage booking’ option, or on the TAP app, under ‘Choose meal’, allowing customers to indicate in advance that they do not wish to receive a meal on board.

This preference is recorded in the airline’s systems and made available to the cabin crew before the flight, enabling them to identify passengers who choose not to be woken up for the meal service. The feature aims to meet the needs of customers who value rest on long-haul flights, whilst also contributing to a more personalised service and a reduction in food waste.

In addition, TAP’s new partnership with LUGGit now offers a solution that allows its customers to travel with greater convenience. Already available to passengers travelling via the airports of Lisbon, Porto, Madrid, Barcelona and Athens, the service allows passengers to request the collection, storage and delivery of their luggage at departure and/or at their destination, with collection or delivery at the airport, hotel, home or another location of the customer’s choice. This means passengers can get around the city without having to carry their luggage for part of their journey.
The new services and products now available reflect TAP’s commitment to a travel experience better tailored to its passengers’ preferences and travel habits, through solutions that combine comfort, entertainment, personalisation and flexibility.

TAP Air Portugal currently flies from London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Manchester airport in the UK and from Dublin in Ireland to Lisbon and Porto with onward connections to Brazil, Africa, Madeira, Azores, the USA and Canada.  TAP has a stop over programme allowing passengers to stop in either Lisbon or Porto on long haul journeys for up to 10 days for no additional air fare.
