The Bengaluru-Kamakhya Express derailed at Cuttack, Odisha, killing one person and injuring eight others, including two from Assam. On war footing, restoration efforts were being carried out on the impacted area.

An express train headed for Guwahati derailed in Cuttack, Odisha, on Sunday, killing one person and injuring eight more, according to an official. At the time of the event, the Bengaluru-Kamakhya Express was traveling from Bengaluru to Kamakhya station in Guwahati, Assam.

District Magistrate Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde stated that the train derailed close to Cuttack’s Nergundi railway station and verified the death and injury toll.

The event has claimed one life. Eight injured individuals required a referral and were moved. According to news agency ANI, he stated, “An investigation into the incident is underway.”

“At 11.54 am, eleven coaches of the SMVT Bengaluru-Kamakhya AC Express derailed at Nirgundi near Manguli,” stated Ashok Kumar Mishra, the East Coast Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO).

Rescue and relief personnel hurried to the scene of the disaster. Under the direction of senior railway officials, rescue and repair efforts were underway on a war footing on the impacted length.

A relief train was being organized to transport the stranded passengers to their destinations, CPRO Mishra said.

The derailment resulted in the diversion of three trains. According to officials, these trains are the Purulia Express, Neelachal Express, and Dhauli Express.

According to news agency PTI, Odisha Fire Service Director-General Sudhansu Sarangi stated that members of the NDRF and Odisha Fire Service were supporting the Railways in the rescue effort.

For the impacted travelers, we have set up a control room and helplines. We’ll be sharing the passenger profiles shortly,” Mishra stated.

Two passengers on board the Bengaluru-Kamakhya Express were hurt, but they were safe, according to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Regarding the situation, he said his office was in contact with the Railways and the Odisha government.
