Because he is the “son of Mallah (fisherman),” he wants more than thirty seats, the position of deputy chief minister, and “samman.” Get to know Mukesh Sahani from Bihar’s Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP). Previously a Bollywood set designer, he is now acting like a “VIP” and causing the opposition alliance, or Mahagathbandhan, the most trouble.
When Tejashwi Yadav gave a news conference in 2020 to announce seat distribution, Sahani abruptly left because he was dissatisfied with the number that had been promised to him. He had been betrayed, according to Sahani. At that time, he jumped to the NDA and won four of the eleven seats available to him. Additionally, this was VIP’s first election. The NDA even elevated Sahani to the position of minister in the state cabinet.
Sahani rejoined the opposition coalition in 2024. He appeared notably alongside Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav during the recent “Voter Adhikar Yatra” in Bihar. He asserts that his party attracted the largest attendance during the yatra.
He says he will accept little over 30 seats, while at first he wanted 60 from the Mahagathbandhan. Sahani adds that it has been “decided” that he will serve as deputy chief minister.
Will Sahani abruptly quit again if he is not given at least 30 seats or a position as deputy chief minister? If the coalition prevails, the Congress, a national party, also has its sights set on the deputy CM chair, so it’s unlikely he’ll obtain both.
Since the Left parties have the highest strike rate in the state, the opposition alliance must also make significant accommodations for them in the 2020 assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. RJD might be able to offer Sahani a dozen or so seats at most.
